Bendeela Campsite Kangaroo Valley 2013
www.sca.nsw.gov.au/recreation/bendeela
Set in the Picturesque Kangaroo valley in NSW is this Water board owned Riverside Campsite. A large campsite great for finding your own space in your perfect break caravan and the best part is that its totally free!
Review 3/5/13
Recently went to Bendeela to try this camp site out with friends and family. We had a great relaxing time. Our main concern with this campsite was security as its such a large place, but this was not an issue at all as there were security guards on the front gate all day and most of the night. When enquiring if they were always there, I was told that they are now there when open during school holidays and long weekends. This is great as they made sure people were not being anti- social and looking after this beautiful place. The only problem we really had here was the lack of showers(although the toilet blocks are fine) and the Wombats who decided that the undercarriage of my caravans chassis was good for a nightly back scratch!
We enjoyed local tracks along the river, spectacular scenery, kyaking, canoeing and riding bikes. The kids loved the tracks and large Jump over the roots of one of the many beautiful trees which line the river. My daughter also enjoyed the tree rope someone had left over the other side of the river.
Another bonus to this place is its location, only 5 minutes drive from Kangaroo Valley village with its cute little shops and nice meals, and as you are staying in Bendeela for free means you can splurge out every now and then on a great meal. Had a nice Lasagne at the local pub, which also has a great outside section with playground for the kids. If you want to drive further afield there are also other southern highland villages nearby and Nowra just 20 minutes the other side of the mountain. There are also numerous mountain bike tracks throughout the mountains for those inclined for a free thrill. For a more relaxed exploration try out the local museum which gives an interesting history of Kangaroo valley with the locals running this, giving fantastic customer service and information.

Sydney escapes by Perfect Break Caravans
There are two main caravan parks in the city where I have been to. One is #LANE COVE river tourist park and the other is the Grand Pines in Ramsgate Beach which is right near Brighton- le sands on Botany Bay. Both offer different things and both are a great place to stay for that city escape. The Grand Pines in Ramsgate beach was an older style caravan park with pretty basic amenities but the very close location to the beach and the city as well as the Mediterranean feel of Brighton le Sands definitely compensates for the basic park that this is. The bike tracks along the bay are beautiful and there are many parks, exercise equipment and beaches to explore. This one is now closed but there is two other caravan parks nearby which are also great as they are close by and in excellent vicinity to public transport. They are Sydney Tourist Park at Miranda and Woronora River caravan park. Great places to eat in this area include:
'#Meet the Greek Restaurant'
#St George Sailing club
#St George motorboat club
#Ramsgate beach RSL
There are many other nice restaurants or places to eat in this area too including one which is right on the beach in front of the NOVOTEL.
Things to do there are:
1. Bike riding
2. Fishing
3. Visit and picnic in the numerous parks.
4. Head over to #Cronulla for more great scenery and walks and restaurants.
5. Catch a Ferry to #Bundeena for the markets or Royal National Park walks.
6. Hop into the city and do the tourist thing in Darling harbour, circular key or even the Heads which are also a beautiful place.
NOTE: Since writing this the Grand Pines is now gone and becoming a development which is a shame for this area, however there are other caravan parks in this area which could work well for you two such as:
#Sydney Tourist Park Miranda
#Woronora Caravan park on the woronora river.
Lane Cove Tourist Park Review
Travelled to this tourist park in 2011 and found it a great park with excellent location too. Obviously not on the beach but has its own bonus of being in Sydney and still being in the bush. Its a real inner- suburban escape.
As its a National parks based site it works well with cultural advantages too. For example we had a great and enlightening talk by the local Kooris. Their dream time stories and dances were amazing and fantastic to give the kids a real feel for what this area was like before us. What was even better was that this great educational experience was completely #free.
This park was very convenient for Sydney too as it is just down the road (5 minute walk) from #North Ryde railway station where you can catch a train to the city in around 30 minutes.
The #bush walks along the Lane Cove river were also worth doing although hard for small children. Still gave you that feeling that you were out in the bush NOT in the Sydney suburbs.
Lane Cove river also has hire boats you can walk to which I believe are nice too although we did not get to these.
